The surprising La Gomera
At 45 minutes by boat from the busy Tenerife lies the mountainous island of La Gomera as a green oasis with steep cliffs, volcanic rocks and cloud forests. In summer tropical warm and winters pleasant. It is not for nothing called the most exotic of the Canary Islands.
The peaceful Vallehermoso (beautiful valley) is centrally located in La Gomera between the warmer south and the north with its rich green vegetation. High in the central highlands lies Garayonay National Park, a UNESCO-protected area with lots of special native plants.
Walking trails
Vallehermoso is an excellent base to explore the island. The accessibility and variety of the mountain landscape makes La Gomera a paradise for hikers. A network of recent designations leads past 400 km of hiking trails, a feat for an island with 30 km section, where each trip is a discovery.
